Activity ideas: Laboring in the Vineyard and the Allegory of the Olive Trees

#1: Show kids pictures from your mission(s). Jacob 5: 70. “other servants” were called into the Lord’s vineyard to teach and gather Israel.

#2: Buy some potted plants (garden vegetable plant maybe, or a flower?) and put them in a different types of ground. Cup filled with rocks. Cup filled with sand. Cup filled with good dirt. See how they grow. Talk about it as time progresses.

#3: Learn about the allegory of the olive trees and learn about the house of Israel.

Growing up I never really understood what the house of Israel was and why it was important to me. I want to have my kids be able to visualize what it is and use a part of our family tree to help them understand what it means for them.

In the manual it talks about what is being taught in Jacob 5

  • verses 3-14 talk about the scattering of Israel before Christ
  • verses 15-28 talk about the ministry of Christ
  • verses 20-49 teach about the Great Apostasy
  • verses 50-76 teach about the gathering of Israel (now)
  • verses 76-77 talk about the Millennium

I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm so grateful for the resources that it has given us to get to know our Savior more. I have a supportive husband and 4 great kids. Here is some of the things we do in our home to implement Come Follow Me.
