Ether 12-15

Scripture: Ether 12:27

Activity Idea: Family Workout

Ether 12:27 is one of my favorite scriptures. I’ve found it comforting, humbling, and empowering.

To discuss this I think it would be great to read this verse together as a family. Pause and take some time to think of what each member of the family feels like is a current weakness. If you don’t know…pray! You can share or keep it private.

Then get ready for a little family workout. Talk about how when you build muscle to make it strong you actually tear it down to make it stronger. It takes time, effort, and consistency to become stronger and build muscle.

It is not so different from our other weaknesses. Discuss ways to exercise your spiritual muscles and rely on the Lord to help your weak areas be strengths. It will still take time, effort, and consistency to do it.

Activity Idea from the Church: Draw Your Story

  • Sing “Faith” (Children’s Songbook,96–97).
  • Moroni wrote about people in the scriptures who were able to do hard things because they had faith (see Ether 12:12–22).
  • Can you think of a time when your faith in Jesus Christ helped you do something hard? Draw a cartoon about it, like the story on page 22! Then share it with us at the Friend.

I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm so grateful for the resources that it has given us to get to know our Savior more. I have a supportive husband and 4 great kids. Here is some of the things we do in our home to implement Come Follow Me.
