Ye are the Children of the Covenant

October 12-18

Scripture: 3 Nephi 20: 22

And behold, this people will I establish in this land, unto the fulfilling of the covenant which I made with your father Jacob; and it shall be a New Jerusalem. And the powers of heaven shall be in the midst of this people; yea, even I will be in the midst of you.

3 Nephi 21: 25

And then shall the power of heaven come down among them; and I also will be in the midst.

Activity Idea: Build a Fort

In 3 Nephi 22: 2 the Lord tells us to “Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thy habitations; spare not lengthen thy cords and strengthen they stakes;”

To teach this lets build a fort. Make it small. Get a few chairs and a large blanket or sheet. Have some string, rope, and clamps (if desired.)

See how big you can make your fort/tent together as a family and then talk about how we can Gather Israel like President Nelson has encouraged us to.

Activity Idea from the Church: Tithing Time

• Sing “The Church of Jesus Christ” (Children’s Songbook, 77).
• In 3 Nephi, Jesus taught about paying tithing (see 3 Nephi 24:8–10).
• Read the story on page FJ8 about a girl who pays tithing for the first time. Then use real coins or the paper coins on page 8 to practice paying tithing.
